The categories of membership are set out in the Association Rules and the current subscription rates for those categories are set out below.

1.   Subscriptions for the year 1 October 2007 to 30 September 2008 are:
 Full £18.00 (this includes Bee Diseases Insurance for 3 colonies - see below);
 Partner £12 (this includes Bee Diseases Insurance for 3 colonies, so a Full member and Partner member will have cover for 6 colonies between
 them - see below).
 Country (no bees, wishes to pay capitation to BBKA) £12.00;
 Associate £1;
 Student (in full time education and without bees) £1;
 Friends £5.
 New members joining after 1 June 2008 may pay a reduced subscription of:  Full £14.50; Country £9.25.  There is no reduction for other
 categories of membership

2.   Bee Diseases Insurance (BDI) provides valuable cover against the loss of bees, equipment and honey from the notifiable bee diseases American
 and European Foulbrood.  Beekeepers with up to 39 colonies can insure through Scheme A, for which the premiums are payable through our
 Association; those with 40 or more colonies can only insure directly with BDI through Scheme B and they should contact our Hon. Treasurer for
 further details.  Premiums are for the calendar year and must be paid by 31 March – cover will not commence for 60 days if payment is made after
 this date.  N.B. cover only applies if all colonies are insured, so it is important to cover all the colonies that you intend to work during the season.

 Rates for 2008 are given in the calculator below.  Note that the Association subscription for all Full and Partner members includes a BDI premium
 of £2.00 to cover the first 3 colonies, so members wishing to cover more than 3 colonies (6 for a Full and Partner combination) must pay the
 appropriate extra premium from the right-hand column.

It is a requirement of BDI that every Full and Partner member pays the minimum BDI premium of £2.00 for 2008.  This is included in your subscription and covers up to 3 colonies.  Members with more than 3 colonies must therefore pay the additional amounts shown if they wish to insure their colonies, e.g.
Members with 4-5 colonies pay £2.00 extra
Members with 32 colonies pay £11.10 plus 7 x 50p =£14.60
Note also that BDI require the basic premium of £2.00 included in the subscription to be paid even where the Full or Partner member has no bees
or has more than 39 colonies and is insured under BDI Scheme B.
Country members, Associates, Students and Friends do not pay BDI.

3.   The magazine Bee Craft is available at reduced rates through the Association.  The cost for the calendar year 2008 is £19.80.  Please contact the
      Hon. Treasurer for a subscription rate if joining part way through the year.
