Wax Moths
- Traps can be made by putting a cup of sugar, a cup of vinegar and a banana skin into a 2 litre plastic soft drinks bottle. Cut two holes opposite each other just above the shoulder of the bottle (make the holes no more than ˝" diameter to avoid catching butterflies) and top up with water until the level is a couple of inches below the holes. Hang or place near the hives.
- Leave ‘wet’ supers on the hives until the weather turns cold (late October or early November). They can then be stored in a cool place without any fear of wax moth damage.
